Sonja Dahlmans is a Dutch theologian, specialized in Eastern Christianity and Islam. She has ten years of work experience writing about the abduction, forced marriage, and forced conversion of women and girls from (ethno )religious minority groups in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Additionally, Sonja has also conducted academic research on the abduction, forced conversion, and sexual violence against Christian women and on child and forced marriage.

The theme for Coptic Solidarity's Annual Conference, June 11-12, 2025, is Uprooted & Endangered: Religious Minorities in the Middle East.

A recurring threat which is also effective in shrinking an ethnic or religious minority population is the trafficking of their women and forcing them to convert to Islam; often accompanied by their minor children. Coptic Solidarity’s latest report Hidden Crimes, Public Deception highlights multiple such cases in relation to Coptic Christians in Egypt.

The conference this year will include a Congressional Briefing and our Policy Day on Capitol Hill.

We believe that the participation of Sonja Dahlmans, the author of this report, would be a great asset in both the Congressional Briefing and the Policy Day.
