November 23, 2020 marks the one- year anniversary of imprisonment for Coptic activist, Ramy Kamel, who has served a FULL year in solitary confinement.

Please sign this petition, urging the Egyptian Public Prosecutor, Hamada al-Sawi, to immediately release Mr. Kamel.

I urge you to immediately lift all charges against Coptic activist, Ramy Kamel, in Case no. 1475 of 2019 and to release him from prison. Mr. Kamel has been held in solitary confinement for an entire year which amounts to torture. The Egyptian government has:

• Failed to provide evidence against Mr. Kamel and documents from his court sessions as required by Egyptian law  
• Denied both Mr. Kamel and his attorneys access to sessions in which his detention was prolonged    
• Denied Mr. Kamel access to his attorneys  
• Failed to schedule a free and fair trial for Mr. Kamel  
• Failed to investigate or prosecute those responsible for torturing Mr. Kamel on 2 occasions and those who forged allegations leading to his imprisonment
• Provide medical treatment for his acute asthma, despite the COVID-19 pandemic

Given the numerous violations of Egyptian law, the UDHR, and the ICCPR, I urge you to immediately rectify this egregious miscarriage of justice agianst Ramy Kamel.
