Urge Congress to Pass Resolution for Egypt's Copts
Urge leaders of the House Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, & International Terrorism to bring H. RES. 49 to a mark-up in their next meeting!
The only Congressional resolution in support of Egypt's indigenous Coptic Christians is in danger of dying in committee.
You can help ensure it gets passed by sending a message to the leadership of the House Subcommittee, urging them to bring the resolution to a mark-up. A sample letter is provided to your right. You may edit or send as is.
Once the resolution has been marked-up, it can be scheduled for a full floor vote by the US House of Representatives.
This resolution calls on Egypt’s government to protect Copts by ending the culture of impunity for those who attack them and their properties, and to enact reforms for Copts to achieve equality and full religious freedom.
As the 2nd largest recipient of US foreign aid, we believe that the Egyptian government must be held accountable for its human rights violations that are in clear opposition to American values of equality and religious liberty.
